"Although prayer is alien to our proud human nature, somehow, at some point along life's journey, most of us fall to our knees, bow our head, fix our attention on God and just plain pray. We may look both ways to be sure no one is watching; our knees may creak at the foreignness of the activity; but still, we pray. It's as if something within us is hard-wired with the knowledge that in so doing we weave stronger threads of intimacy with the one who alone can provide peace to endure and power to overcome whatever challenges we face"
This is a small excerpt from a book called, "Too Busy Not To Pray", written by Bill Hybels.
The book is mainly about prayer and talks about the importance of it and what it can do if we decide to have a prayer life. I was just previewing the book, and something from the intro caught my eye which is where i got this excerpt from. It started to make me think when he said that at some point of our lives we end up praying, whatever the case may be, most of the times it's in our deepest despair, times of tough trials, times of loneliness and something yearning within us allows us to come to God and pray and it comes out naturally. We've all experienced this as well, in our times of troubles we just end up calling out to God, knowing that in some way He'll hear us.
This made me realize that God has put in us since birth, this natural ability or instinct to call out to him. It's amazing, even though sin had ruined that relationship with God in the garden of eden, God still has created within us the ability to call out to him, regardless of our race, ethnicity or religion. It gives us the idea that God exists and that He has always wanted a relationship with each of us and that He hopes for us to speak with him and vice versa.
